If you know me well, you know I’m someone that’s pretty keen on the idea of shopping for plants, especially when this means adding personal touches to your home and making it feel more…homely. Adding a little somethin’ somethin’ to different spots of the house is always exciting and has an incredible effect on not only the decoration and feel of our little London flat, but on our everyday mood.
Our house is slowly starting to look like a jungle and most of our plants are now having little plant babies! I get a little extra excited when I notice them growing a little leaf, so imagine how happy and proud I feel when they’re creating babies of their own! Funnily enough, I feel like I’m now at a point in my life where I’m legitimately playing grown ups. Being the plant lady that I am and needing some extra pots, it was only a matter of time before Sam and I headed up to Lower Clapton, where a new Conservatory Archives plant shop had recently opened.

Tucked away in a little brick courtyard on Ezra Street, just off the hustle and bustle of Columbia Road, lies Lily Vanilli, one of the daintiest little bakery gems in town. This captivating little spot could easily go unnoticed if it wasn’t for the hundreds of recommendation lists it keeps on popping up on. This, of course, was more than enough to make me stop by after a busy Sunday morning battling the crowds on Columbia Road Flower Market in search of the perfect pot plant and seasonal blooms. Any excuse for a slice of cake and a cuppa…

Sometimes all you need is pancakes. The good ole fluffy, delicious and mouth-watering kind. When it comes to pancakes, America does it best. New York surprised me with Bubby’s stand out Banana and Nut Pancakes, a shoutout to the origins of authentic American cuisine with a modern touch which, to be completely honest, I thought would never be matched anywhere outside the US. Boy, was I wrong.
Some weeks ago, Sam and I spent a weekend exploring the wonderful city of Liverpool. As per usual during our travels, brunch had to happen at some point. Before we knew it, we found ourselves queuing to get inside Moose Coffee. Despite having no idea what to expect, we’d heard this cute diner was one of the best places in Liverpool to enjoy a Sunday brunch date. And OMG, if Tom Hardy and I have something in common (!!!) it’s that we were both blown away by Moose’s incredibly delicious American-style menu.

Autumn calls for warm cakes and hot cups of tea. And I cannot tell you how ready I am for it! I finally have an excuse to take my jumpers and oversized scarfs out of the bottom of my wardrobe. Truth is, even though I enjoyed the superb sunny weather we’ve had in the UK for the last couple of months, I must admit I certainly missed the cool breeze and autumnal crisp air. And of course the crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, nice smelling candles and warm comfort food!
Halloween may be around the corner but there is nothing scary about this cake. Following Sam’s mum’s award-winning recipe, I recently treated myself to a super easy to bake lemon drizzle cake. This light and effortless recipe is incredibly easy to follow, requires only a handful of ingredients and serves up to 10 slices. Served either warm or at room temperature, it’s moist, rich in taste and perfect to have with a hot cuppa. You can thank me later…

Do you like chocolate brownies? Let me rephrase that, who doesn’t love brownies? I know, I know, there are some people out there that are not particularly fond of chocolatey treats. Luckily, I am not one of them and when it comes to brownies, I just can’t say no. They are not precisely the lightest of bites, but hey! Think about it as your reward for eating clean throughout the whole week.
As an avid sweet treat lover and a big fan of Sam’s sister’s mouth-watering brownies, I thought I’d share the following recipe with you, which she is a pro at. This is such an easy dessert to make and this gooey chocolate brownie recipe serves 12 chunky brownies, perfect for sharing them with loved ones and friends (if you don’t end up eating them all in one go, like we nearly did).
