This easy chocolate chip banana bread recipe has been a weekend ritual for the last few months and it’s safe to say I’m still as addicted to it as I was on the first day. I can’t take any credit here, sadly, as this is also one of Sam’s mum’s great bakes (who else?). But I thought I’d share what, in my humble opinion, might just be the best banana bread recipe!
Made with wholemeal flour (just opt for gluten-free flour to make it a gluten-free banana bread) and with a delicious nutty caramel flavour, this homemade banana loaf is fluffy and stays moist for days. It makes for pretty tasty comfort food that goes perfectly with a cuppa. Trust me, your friends and family will love this chocolate chip banana bread (if you’re willing to share, that is!). The best bit? You can also experiment with fillings such as walnuts or different chocolate chips for a fun twist with extra flavour! Because sometimes all you need is a good (thick) slice of banana bread, right?
On our recent trip to Bath, Sam and I had time to squeeze in a visit to Sweet Little Things and sample their delicious cakes (one of my favourite things, as you certainly know by now). I’ve said it before but when it comes to brunch (or food in general for that matter), it’s absolutely no secret that this gal is a pretty big fan. After doing a bit of digging for the best brunch in Glasgow (where we recently stayed for a long weekend), we came across Singl-end and what was a serious calling of delicious vegetarian and vegan meals and freshly baked loaves – all under one roof! We wasted approximately zero minutes in heading to the Singl-end Garnethill and before we knew it, we had a table for two ready to give us the energy we needed for our little explore around the city.
Having not visited Amsterdam in over a year (I know, what was I thinking?), I was extremely excited to go back to one of my favourite cities in Europe for a quick weekend escape, especially in prime time spring. Although our main purpose was to finally see the vivid tulip fields at Keukeunhof, we couldn’t resist revisiting some of our favourite corners in the Dutch capital.

Tucked away in a little brick courtyard on Ezra Street, just off the hustle and bustle of Columbia Road, lies Lily Vanilli, one of the daintiest little bakery gems in town. This captivating little spot could easily go unnoticed if it wasn’t for the hundreds of recommendation lists it keeps on popping up on. This, of course, was more than enough to make me stop by after a busy Sunday morning battling the crowds on Columbia Road Flower Market in search of the perfect pot plant and seasonal blooms. Autumn calls for warm cakes and hot cups of tea. And I cannot tell you how ready I am for it! I finally have an excuse to take my jumpers and oversized scarfs out of the bottom of my wardrobe. Truth is, even though I enjoyed the superb sunny weather we’ve had in the UK for the last couple of months, I must admit I certainly missed the cool breeze and autumnal crisp air. And of course the crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, nice smelling candles and warm comfort food!
