Christmas is finally around the corner and I am SO ready for it! There’s just over a week until we wake up to a stocking at the foot of our bed and we spend the rest of the day (and Boxing Day, let’s be honest) stuffing ourselves with mince pies and yule log. And the Christmas spirit is absolutely EVERYWHERE. From festive decorations inside our homes and impressive Christmas lights on the streets, to warm mulled wine, advent calendars, classic Christmas movies, mistletoe and Christmas jumpers, there’s no doubt this festive time of the year is a favourite for many. Oh, and let’s not forget the Christmas markets, gingerbread houses, Secret Santa and Christmas carols of course!
Traditionally carols, and more recently Christmas pop songs, have inevitably become a major part of the festive holidays, particularly in the UK and US. The variety of styles range rom rock ‘n’ roll classics such as “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday” or “Jingle Bell Rock”, to boyband pop like East 17 singing “Stay Another Day” in their iconic white winter coats. Being Christmas Number 1 is an achievement many aspire to, no matter the background – just have a look at the yearly X Factor winners, Mr Blobby, Rage Against the Machine or even Bill Nighy singing “Christmas Is All Around” in Love Actually!
Finding a good Christmas compilation isn’t always easy. Luckily, every year Sam’s family play an absolutely brilliant Christmas songs cassette his Dad made many years ago. It has aaaaall the classics. We’ve wrapped these and added more songs to create the only Christmas songs playlist you need in your life. With over two and a half hours of Christmas songs, there’s enough music to get you through your Christmas dinner.
Happy listening!
