Sam and I have been on a mission to find the best burgers in London. Although we’re yet to sample all of the big smoke’s grilled delicacies (no pun intended), it’s safe to say we’ve been to a fair few places that have significantly won a place in our hearts. Truth is, I’m not a big fan of fast food chains and try to go for more quality, free-range, locally sourced and sustainable options.
Patty and Bun wasn’t somewhere we were new to, but who wants to resist yet another visit to a mouth-watering menu boosting some serious burger choices? Not me, that’s for sure! Hear me out – their organic gourmet patties are quite something.
With several locations dotted around London and now a restaurant in Brighton, Patty and Bun is a must-stop for burger lovers. We opted for their Hackney/London Fields branch, which welcomed us with an open-plan retro interior and trendy graffiti drawings on brick walls, wooden tables, neon lights and even better food choices.
Patty & Bun menu
After umming and ahhing at the various scrumptious menu options, both Sam and I decided to go for the Smokey Robinson burger – with caramelised onions, beef patty, bacon and melted cheese – and a side of smoked confit BBQ chicken wings, topped with spring onion. Oh God, these bad boys were nothing but tender, juicy and marinated to perfection – a heavenly delicious quick fix for our hungry tummies! Other sides include beef brisket nuggets (utterly scrumptious!), tater tots and brisket loaded chips.
Patty and Bun is not only for meat lovers and there’s definitely something for everyone. The menu gives you the option to make each burger veggie. There are even two mouth-watering vegetarian and vegan options with tempeh and braised field mushroom fritter patties – the The Whoopi Goldburger and Portobello ‘Dig It’ Mushroom Burger – which I was seriously considering.
Judging from my face, the Smokey Robinson/wings combo was nothing less then perfectly satisfying! I am even getting hungry by writing this post. Did I mention you can either eat in or take away? That’s what I call bonus points.
Without a shadow of a doubt, Patty and Bun is the ultimate go to for an out-of-this-world burger. Naturally, a place like this gets busy rather quickly at peak times. But I promise you, it won’t be too long until you get tucked in.

Hi Gratsiela. That burger looks delicious! Do you know whether they have restaurants elsewhere in the UK or is it just a London thing? Also, I notice that this was first published in January 2019 – are they open again at present after the Covid-19 issues?
